One Ocean Expedition

2025 - 2026

A 12-month global voyage with the Norwegian tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl - a floating ambassador for the UN Ocean Decade. Combining sail training, ocean science, education and diplomacy to inspire action for a sustainable ocean.

Docked in the port of Cartagena

The departure from Cartagena, Colombia, is delayed. Statsraad Lehmkuhl was scheduled to depart from Cartagena on Friday, January 9, but the departure has been postponed by a few days. The tense situation in Venezuela and neighboring Colombia is not the reason for the delay. – On the next leg of the voyage, cadets from the Royal Norwegian Naval Academy will be joining the ship. However, due to the disruption that severe weather is causing to air traffic in Europe, they have not yet been able to depart, says Solveig Etter, Assistant Expedition Leader. The schedule is flexible, and the ship can remain in Cartagena until Friday, January 16 if necessary. – The ship was originally supposed to sail directly from Cartagena to Norfolk in the United States, but we will first call at Baltimore, USA, to replace some of the crew, Etter explains.
