One Ocean Expedition

2025 - 2026

A year-long global expedition by the Norwegian tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl.

Raising awareness about the ocean’s crucial role in a sustainable future – through sail training, scientific research, education and diplomacy.

Proud ambassador of the UN Ocean Decade.

Second leg underway: Tromsø-Reykjavik

Statsraad Lehmkuhl departed Tromsø, Norway, on April 22 and is now sailing across the Norwegian Sea to Iceland, with arrival in Reykjavik planned for May 5. On board are students, researchers and lecturers from institutions like the European Space Agency and NASA – sailing alongside everyday people from around the world. Over the course of a year, the One Ocean Expedition will visit 27 ports across three continents, including a historic transit through the Northwest Passage. The voyage will conclude in Bergen, Norway, in April 2026. Several legs are open to the public, and everyone is welcome on board - no sailing experience needed!
